Chalara: History of an absurd work!
This is about the construction of a new road from Asfontilitis to Halara. In a series of interventions, which are on the borderline between legal and arbitrary, the Municipality of Amorgos, in various authorities, is promoting this road more than any other project, claiming that it will benefit the primary sector of the island. Our association is convinced that in 21st century Amorgos, when the agricultural sector is constantly shrinking, the construction of a road in a virgin environment – within an archaeological zone and Natura 2000 Protected Area – and moreover, without any restrictions on land use, will lead to aggressive land development in the area…[read more]
