Concert of traditional music with the musical group Notio Toxo

Our association organised a concert with the musical group Notio Toxo / Aegean Arc on Saturday, March 11th at 21:00, at the "Anna Synodinou" Hall of the Primary School of Aegialis.

The name of the group is inspired by the Southern Hellenic Arc, an arc-shaped geographical area, that stretches from Cyprus to Southern Italy and includes the southern coasts of Asia Minor, the Dodecanese, Crete, the Southern Peloponnese and the Cyclades.

The "Notio Toxo / Aegean Arc" through a performance of high artistic aesthetics, highlighted the cultural wealth of the Greek area, through modern snapshots of the musical tradition of the Aegean. Songs and tunes from the North Aegean, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and Crete, Cyprus, the Peloponnese and Southern Italy, were harmoniously framed by dance commentary based on traditional motifs.

On the musical journey of Notio Toxo / Aegean Arc, Katerina Papadopoulou was accompanied by Stefanos Dormparakis (kanonaki), Giorgos Kontogiannis (Cretan lyre, Udu, Bendir), Kyriakos Tapakis (Outi, Spanish laud) and Charitonas Charitonidis (Dance, tsabouna)), while the sound was handled by Giorgos Karyotis.

Many thanks to the Notio Toxo / Aegean Arc, who traveled to our distant island, offering us a unique experience, the Municipality of Amorgos for granting the room and finally we thank everyone, who attended the event.
